Video highlights of your high school's latest sporting events could soon be available at the push of a button. CSTV has announced plans for video-on-demand television channels devoted to high school sports, which will feature specialized content by state.
MaxPreps, a Web site devoted to high school sports scores, statistics, and videos, was purchased in March by CBS, which also owns CSTV. The partnership allows all three groups to work together in creating the on-demand television channels. The channels will feature content generated by MaxPreps and include the more than 20,000 schools it covers.
Some programming, like athlete profiles, championships, and training, will be shown nationally across all channels. Other programming will be organized by state. Video-on-demand services typically allow satellite and digital cable viewers to select pre-recorded programs from a menu and play them at any time.
"High school sports fans have an insatiable appetite to follow their hometown heroes," Andy Beal, MaxPreps President, said in a written statement. "Prep sports are the epitome of local programming and video-on-demand is the next, and natural, step to bring these teams and stars into living rooms in every state."
Details on how the channels can be accessed and when the service will begin are being finalized. For more information, go to cstv.com and click "CSTV To Launch High School Sports Video-On-Demand Channels" under the CSTV Exclusive tab on the right.
