A Look Behind the Curtain

By Patrick Bohn

Ever wondered what it would be like to give your fans a peak at the nuts and bolts of your athletic program? Just what would that presentation look like? The athletic department at Northeastern University has done just that, and has posted a new video giving visitors to their Web site a unique look at what goes into the athletic administration duties at a Division I university.

The video, which has hundreds of views on YouTube, is the second part of a six-episode feature detailing the work that goes into supporting and maintaining an collegiate athletic department.

"I think a lot of people think [our job] is throwing out the ball and patting kids on the back," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Amanda Braun in the video. "There's a lot more that goes into it."

The video features four Northeastern Athletic Department members from various departments including compliance and operations and shows how all the departments work together to put out a top notch product.

"Everybody that I work with here really seems to have a true drive to make themselves better, to make this organization better," said Craig Lee, Operations Manager.
"Everything we're doing behind the scenes, no matter how much work goes in to it, is to make what we do easier for our customers," said John Gruppo, the Assistant Athletics Director for Business Operations.

Part II of the series will premier on the Northeastern athletic department Web site on August 10.
